Tabata 20 s / 10 s × 8 Timer
Tabata 20 s / 10 s × 8 preset: 20 s of work, 10 s of rest, 8 rounds. Press Start (or Space); you can still change the values before starting.
Tabata comes from a 1996 study by Dr Izumi Tabata on Olympic speed skaters: 8 rounds of 20 seconds all-out effort and 10 seconds of rest, 4 minutes in total. Done properly it is exhausting; the last two rounds should feel almost impossible.
- Set work and rest – Type the work and rest time in seconds and the number of rounds, or pick a preset below. Tick “Repeat” for an endless loop.
- Start – Click Start or press Space. The current phase and round number show above the clock, and a short beep sounds during the last 5 seconds of every phase.
- Finish – After the last round the alarm chosen in Configure plays. Pause stops the countdown, Reset returns to the settings.
The timer keeps working in a background tab and after a page reload. Sounds are generated in the browser; in Configure you can pick the final alarm, your own file or a YouTube video. Shortcuts: Space start/pause, R reset, F full screen.
