Online Stopwatch

A precise web stopwatch with millisecond accuracy. Measure time, record lap times and use it for free.

  1. Start the stopwatch – Click Start or press Space. The stopwatch counts up from zero. By default it shows hundredths of a second; switch to milliseconds under “Display precision” in Settings.
  2. Record lap times – Press Lap (or the L key) to save the current time. Record as many laps as you need; the last three show under the clock and the full table is below.
  3. Stop or reset – Click Pause to stop the measurement and Resume to continue. Reset returns the stopwatch to zero and clears the laps.

The stopwatch saves its state automatically. Even if you close the browser, your last measurement is restored on the next visit and the time keeps running. Shortcuts: Space start/stop, L lap, R reset, F full screen.

Frequently asked questions

How accurate is the online stopwatch?

It measures time to the millisecond using your device's clock and the display refreshes up to 60 times per second. Human reaction time when pressing a button (about 0.2 s) is a far bigger source of error.

Does the stopwatch keep running when I close the tab?

Yes. The start time is saved in your browser, so when you open the page again the stopwatch shows the correct elapsed time as if it had never stopped.

How many lap times can I record?

There is no limit. Every lap shows its own duration and the total elapsed time. Copy exports them as a table for Excel or Google Sheets.

What is the difference between a stopwatch and a timer?

A stopwatch counts up from zero and tells you how much time has passed. A timer counts down from a set value and alerts you when it reaches zero.
