    12 Minute Timer

A countdown timer preset to 12 minutes. Press Start (or Space) and you will hear an alarm when it reaches zero. You can still change the time before starting.

Twelve minutes is the Cooper test: run as far as you can in 12 minutes to estimate your fitness. It also fits a rice cooker cycle for white rice and a standard short presentation.

    1. Set the time – Click Configure and set hours, minutes and seconds with the arrows, or pick a preset under the clock or in the panel below. The display shows the value you are setting.
    2. Start the countdown – Click Start or press Space. The timer counts down and shows the remaining time in the browser tab too.
    3. Alarm and reset – At zero the digits blink and the sound plays until you click Turn off. Reset takes you back to the set value. Configure lets you change the sound, title and what happens at zero.

The timer keeps counting after a page reload and in a background tab, because the end time is stored in your browser. Keep the tab open: the alarm can only play in an open browser, and a sleeping phone may stop it. Use Test in Configure to check the volume. Shortcuts: Space start/stop, R reset, F full screen.

    Frequently asked questions

What is a good Cooper test result?

For an adult, 2,400 metres or more is good, under 1,600 metres is poor. Set the timer, run on a flat track and note the distance when it beeps.
